I just had the best New Year’s Eve ever.

I still do resolutions, even though some people say they’re stupid or they don’t work. I find that the traders who do the best are the ones who set goals and don’t let anything get in their way. Speaking of trading, you can get Lifetime Membership here and the Robots here. And my indicators are here.

Here are some guidelines for how I set a resolution:

I only do things I want to do. This sounds obvious, but it isn’t. Most people set goals to stop doing things they want to do. This never works. Or they set goals that are so difficult that they’ll never achieve them. Which brings me to my next point:

I set easy resolutions. I set goals to accomplish things I know I can do. And then, if I stack enough easy things on top of each other, they add up to something big. Instead of setting a goal to make $300,000 a year in trading, I set a goal to make $100 a day – and let the robots do the work. Then, when the robots are making $100 a day, I slightly increase the trade size and get to $125 a day, and so forth. This kind of goal setting means that I am getting positive feedback, I’m accomplishing my goals, then I have more confidence, and then I can increase the size of my goals.

I figure out the easiest path, and then I take it. So many traders choose the most difficult way to something. And this is true for trading, and it is true for relationships, and it is true for anything you want to do well: most people choose the hardest path. We are attracted to difficulty. Especially in trading, we think that profitability requires complexity. And it’s not true. For anything you want to do, ask yourself this One Question: What decision can I make, what path can I choose, that will make everything else easier or unnecessary? (read this book for more on this topic)

So here’s an idea for you today:

Figure out something that you want to do (not something you wish you wanted, or something that someone else wants for you). Write down 10 things you want. Then narrow the list down to 1 thing that you want most.

Now, ask this question: “What’s an easy first step toward this goal?” Maybe it’s downloading the robots. Or maybe it’s deleting all the dumb indicators off your charts. Or maybe it’s throwing away all the sugar in your house. Or deleting the number of a jerkface person from your phone. Divide anything complicated into easy steps and you can do almost anything you want to do.

Now, ask yourself the most important question: “What one thing can I do, that will make everything else easier in accomplishing this goal?” Maybe that would be joining a family or group of traders who can support and help you. Keep thinking about the easier path, always. This has changed my life for the better.

Happy 2017 – I’m excited to hear from you anytime. What are your goals? Send me a text message anytime – 304-281-8332 – I’m always happy to hear from you.
