The newest billionaire featured on Forbes World’s Billionaires list is not a tech giant, a Wall Street hotshot, or even an Oscar-winning film star.
It’s Kim Kardashian.
Citing her two lucrative businesses, KKW Beauty and Skims, as well as income and royalties from the E! series “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” Forbes announced her inclusion on the list for the first time on Tuesday, April 6.
Kardashian’s worth increased from $780 million in October to $1 billion and follows the success of her half-sister Kylie Jenner, who was featured on Forbes list as the “youngest self-made billionaire” at the age of 21.
“It’s the first time I’ve moved away from having licensing deals and transitioned into being an owner,” Kardashian told Forbes in 2017 when she announced her cosmetics line.
Kardashian sold 20% of her KKW Beauty line to Coty, Inc for $200 million, in a deal that closed in early 2021 and pushed her over to billionaire status.
She also launched a shapewear company called “Skims” in 2019 and successfully pivoted over to loungewear during the pandemic. Kardashian holds a majority stake in the company, which has not disclosed its revenue.
When she landed the cover of Forbes for the first time, Kardashian famously said, “Not bad for a girl with no talent.”
